Endoh's left ankle still bothering him prior to Kyushu

Oct. 27 - Rising star, Endoh, wrapped up the autumn exhibition season leaving some to doubt his health following a severe left ankle sprain that caused him to withdraw from the Aki basho. While Endoh did participate in the exhibitions, which wrapped up yesterday in Matsuyama City, he was largely limited to light keiko workouts in front of the fans. When asked about his condition after the festivities, Endoh explained, "If I was able to do all-out keiko, I'd be doing it. If I don't recover and improve my conditioning, the upcoming basho will be meaningless for me." Endoh's stablemaster, Oitekaze-oyakata commented, "It doesn't seem like his leg is doing very well, and we're not sure when he'll return to a full practice schedule."
