Kyushu banzuke released

Oct 28 - The Sumo Association announced the rankings for the upcoming Kyushu basho this morning. Yokozuna Hakuho maintains the highest slot on the charts as he looks to become just the second rikishi in history besides Taiho to post five victories in a row for the second time. Harumafuji maintains the West slot and was the last rikishi to hoist the Emperor's Cup in January prior to Hakuho's run. Kisenosato checks in yet again as the highest-ranked Ozeki following his ninth straight double-digit basho while Kotoshogiku occupies the highest West slot rounding out the top two Japanese rikishi on the charts. Ozeki Kotooshu is kadoban for the seventh time in his career meaning he must win eight bouts or be demoted.

Goeido notches the East Sekiwake slot after his impressive 11 wins in September, and he is joined by Tochiohzan to the West who moves back into the rank for the first time in eight basho. Fukuoka native, Shohozan, makes his return to the Komusubi rank just in time for his hometown basho while Okinoumi joins him in the West gracing the sanyaku for the first time in three tournaments.
