Endoh looks awful battling former sanyaku
rikishi
M1
Endoh made a rare de-geiko appearance at the Kasugano-beya this morning
battling the two former sanyaku rikishi in Tochiohzan and Tochinoshin;
however, the youngster failed to impress fighting a total of 16 bouts
and coming up on the wrong end of the straw including an embarrassing
tsuri-dashi loss at the hands of Juryo rikishi, Tochinoshin. Endoh
attempted to secure his favored hidari-yotsu position from the tachi-ai
during the session but was constantly rebuffed by his opponents leaving
him shaking his head in confusion after each loss. Afterwards, Endoh was
optimistic in his comments stating, "Today nor tomorrow is the
hon-basho, so I still have some time to prepare." This was Endoh's first
de-geiko experience in six months and the first time he's ever ventured
out to another stable for practice prior to a Tokyo basho. "I'm not
quite used to doing keiko with sekitori," he quipped. "I definitely
noticed a difference in environment and intensity out there." Endoh is
schedule to return to the Kasugano-beya tomorrow for another workout. |
