Thanks to Sakura's measly 36% wins (they have 11, so they're official this basho), we climb 1 spot to 5th.  NPI also had a bad day, but are still 1.12 points up on us.
This is a high scoring basho, so it'll be tough to keep in the running for all of the awards!  Every division (except sandanme) has people with 4 perfect days after day 5!

That's why I find it so amusing that the latter-day saints of our business...
1) attribute to me motives that just weren't there, and
2) accuse me of corrupting morality, which ...  I wish I had the power to do.

Prepare to die.

You know what, it's downright depressing looking at Fantasy Sumo, wondering what the hell you were thinking when you made those picks.  My Bench lineup looks fine, don't know what I was doing in FS.

An annotation to the Thong´s recruitment attempts:
It should be possible to join DST and the Thong instantly, but the problem is - the basho has already begun.  A new player would have the serious disadvantage of  missing 5 or more days. Such a player could still be helpful for a team, if playing above average, but would have to face an ugly final result for himself in any case.
And DST is not as easy as it looks from the rules. You can´t expect a newbie to be above average straight from the start.
So better wait until next basho. Whoever joins the Thong, the other should join DST too.
We could start a third SumoTalk team.

It was all in all a good day (even though I did lose in SG and had my first below 8 day with a 7), but I guess the icing on the cake is the nice four days in row of high MCP scores and perfects that have me in the lead pack in fighting spirit as well as the #3 in MCP:

Pos +/- Shikona Rank DWP MCP Wins

Point well taken.  Maybe we can get all of the admin stuff taken care of now so we can hit the ground running next basho.  We would still need at least 4 more members to form a third ST team.  Based on our past response that isn't too likely but I would welcome that development if it should happen.

In the meantime, if Jason is joining Thong next basho, you have your choice of which ST team to join of the existing Horde and Thong teams.  (On behalf of the Thong team captain, Simon, I will officially extend the offer for you to join the Thong throng.  I haven't heard if the Horde is interested in taking on new members or not.)

I made my Tipspeil picks, I think.  Looks like you just reply into the forum (followed Sebu's instructions, but my screens are different), do I need to announce my intentions as a Sumotalk Thonger?

I wasn't planning on joining mid-basho.

I'd be honored to join Horde, if they're looking.  Otherwise, I guess I'll be the first in the new unofficial third team for next time.

Sounds like a plan to me.  I don't think you will find the Horde much to your liking though.  They are all kind of smelly over at their beya if you know what I mean!   It wouldn't hurt those European types to use a little deodorant every now and then.  Wink

I think the Horde has five members who all seem committed so don't think anyone's leaving. Plus we were leading the teamspiel after day four so it looks to be working nicely Smiley But you can always form a third one Tongue Sumotalk-hooters? to keep the H trend Tongue

Mach´mer doch! I´ll announce you as a new Thong beauty, when I make my DST picks later on the day. You know, you´ll have to play nearly godlike to avoid make-koshi?

p.s. Seb, maybe you should try to run in front of us?

H trend?  Like "Thong"?

I suppose I have two months to come up with a good team name, if Horde and Thong are all settled in their rosters.

I chose 'throng' initially based on the PC RPG Heroes of Might and Magic series terminology for the number of creatures in an army.  They are as follows:

Lots/Horde/Throng/Swarm/Zounds/Legion

So I suppose you could be the Sumotalk LESION or something, changing the word slightly as we like to do!?

Nerd.  Is it too late to petition for membership in Horde?  Cheesy

How does one count a day as a 'win'?  Is it by points, or just where you end up that day in the primordial ooze?

As far as playing godlike, it's  just a goal that would give me noteriety if I should reach it.  Nobody expects me to be able to do it, so it's win-win for me.

Jason...

Haha...I'm a gaming nerd, all right!  Love most games.  I'd be proud to have you in the Thong, a far sleeker, sexier outfit than those saddoes in the Horde.  But as Haidozo is also looking to join, you should decide between yourselves whether you want to join the Thong, or be the captain of your own LESION!!  I reckon there is still room for more recruitment with Sumotalk Beya to make three teams.

Regarding the 'win' question, you just go for as many points as you can every day.  Your win-loss record is calculated at the end of the basho based on how well you do.
