A couple of basho back Tokitenku won against buggered if I know right now by a lovely move that was adjudged to be something much less spectacular by official kimarite.  It was the bout where he forced his opponent down by a really beautiful stiff throat slam whilst sweeping the leg away with his other hand.  Fantastic is was and a thing of true beauty.  Remember it?  Needs a new kimarite I reckon.

I remember someone doing that to Kotooshu 2 basho ago, but I thought it was Aminishiki...  Either way, I was there, and it was an AWESOME move!  And if I remember correctly, they gave Aminishiki some kind of "leg pick" or "ankle pick" kimarite for it.  I've got the basho on DVD and I'll check it after I get done shaving my legs and painting my toenails!

Yeah, that thing Tokitenku did was against Kotooshu, and Mike called it a kubitaoshi in his report. And since we're on the subject of rare techniques, Ichihara's kainahineri against Futenoh today was a thing of beauty. I just hope Futenoh's arm is OK after that, because it looked painful.

Those are some good fights, particularly the izori and the ipponzeoi. Also, a couple of knock-outs in the end.

whoa, izori huhh... sounds familiar, loved that knockout at the end, Chiyutakai must have delivered dozens of like that.
I still keep thinking the one that Sexy pulled against Ama this Hatsu, totally out of the box. Here's another one, its mind boggling if one could orbit someone like that.

What a day. I have (in my admittedly very few years of watching Sumo and never live) never seen Kubinage (Tochinonada vs Kotokasuga) or Ushiromotare (Homasho vs Hokutoriki)

BTW, the amiuchi shown by Hakuho today is pretty rare. Last time it was called in the top division was three and a half years ago.
