Congratulations to Hal on his long-awaited promotion to the big league. Well done also to Owl for hanging on again...he needs a DD basho to put a bit of space between him and the dreaded drop.  Panda goes back to ozeki and will be hoping for a better performance this time.  Our only other sanyaku representative is Renaud at komusubi. Sadly, Ronnie dropped to Makushita but I have no doubt he'll be back up in no time.

See you all on January 14th!

Panda goals for 2018:

Go past Norizo to be the all-time leader in both Masters and World Championships. This means I have to win a third straight year and also take a Masters title.

Win GTB as it's the only game I've never won.

Be in Makuuchi in all SB games by Kyushu 2018.  ISP and Odd are the games I always end up outside the top division. And I may be back in Makushita for a bit in Norizo Cup...so have to win big there too to get back to the top.

Still be Yokozuna East on the Superbanzuke.

300+ Masters points.

Achieve 100+ in the Masters.

Make Yokozuna in Sumo Game.

No more stinking Baka Cups!

SG and Bench are both open for enrollment. Good luck to everyone in Hatsu and throughout 2018.

Present.

Dreams for 2018:

Make Yokozuna in TUG.  (All I need is to KK in January and March, and get a yusho or jun-yusho in either or both)

Return to the top 10 for the year in Masters, and at least be in contention for best daily gamer.

Stop missing withdrawals.

NO BAKA CUPS

Trying to get my picks in for the Hatsu Basho 2018.  Every day now for the past week I've been going to my usual starting point for entry into the fantasy games:  http://www.strongoak.net/sb/index.htm

Each time I get this message:

This site can’t be reached
www.strongoak.net’s server IP address could not be found.
Search Google for strongoak net index
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Is anyone else having this experience trying to access the SB site?  I don't have links to the individual games as I have always gone to the SB site to access each game.  Does anyone know if this is also affecting any of the individual games or not?  Very frustrating as we are now less than 3 days from the start of the basho.  (Note to Simon, I was able to get my Bench preliminary entry in on time.)  I guess I could google to find the url for each game but what a pain and I'm sure I'll forget one of the games as well.

Solution PMd.

Strongoak has been down for weeks.  No word about it that I'm aware of.

Seb: Sorry late. Yeah as Scott says it is terminally screwed, it seems. Go to the first post in this thread and you can access all the games from there:

A mixed bag on a lottery day. Remarkable 9-4 win by Fujiyama get a mention. Stefan was also unlucky to walk into an 8. Hal's first day in Makuuchi went badly as he walked into a strong Owl line-up.

Not a bad start at all, apart from my very stupidly trusting Terunofuji...he screwed me in Quad and Chain. But thankfully I have left him out of the pre-basho games and they look quite promising. All my main picks look OK so far but UDH could be a bit of a nightmare. Still...it's only day one.  Won Bench and SG, which is always nice on the day-one lottery...and drew first blood in the Baka Cup...this time Teru helped me.

A mixed bag on a lottery day.

Saw this coming.  When over half of the Machine-predicted winners are only 51-53% to win, I figured things would get... interesting.

Second place in Odd has to be my best start.  Only 6 winners in all of TTT so I can't worry too much about a loss there today.  Also out in Chaingang... like most everyone else.  KK pace in DST.  Won in ISP (along with 2/3rds of all players).  Lost in Quad.  A nice win in Toto--perhaps I might finally get some decent points here for once.  Missed in TUG, along with most, it seems.  Also called both intra-beya bouts incorrectly in Bench, leading to a 12-11 loss.

Gamers...this clone page has been created for the SB games. Very useful. Missing TTT at the moment.

Thanks for the link!
The TORCH game has no web site, and there's only a once-a-year opportunity to join or update your picks.
The TORCH starts each year with the lowest ranking rikishi on the bazuke.  This year the TORCH will start with Jk25 Shachinofuji.  Because he hasn't had a match, there's still time to enter or update your picks.  See separate thread to enter.  Any rank and active rikishi except Jk25 Shachinofuji can be selected.   Good luck

Panda, Hal and Owl are our only undefeated players on day 2. Shout out to Renaud for a brilliant 10-9 win. And shout out to Scott for his bizarre 5-9 defeat! Is the Machine frozen in all this bad weather?

Overall it was a decent day in the dailies...won most of the games except Bench, where is was impossible to win, and Odd Sumo, which is quite normal. TTT was a nightmare though! I am picking quite well so am feeling confident. The pre-bashos aren't all that great but I have decent prospects in one or two of them. I suspect this basho the dailies will be more important!

Oh, and 2-0 in the Baka Cup thanks to Scott's disaster.

Obviously it likes Teru too much, but that doesn't explain the 5.  One of those days.  I'll take some comfort in that it probably wouldn't have beaten a 9 on a very good day.

Disaster all around, though.  Clean sweep of losses.  Dead last--or tied for it--in TTT and Quad.
